Atomic Age – period of rise of nuclear technology which started from the launch of the first nuclear reactor in 1942<\/strong><\/p>\n

and proceeded by further developments of the nuclear industry which is an important parts of modern technological era.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Vostok-Europe Atomic Age watch design combines a unique techno-futuristic polygonal case,<\/strong><\/p>\n

tritium illumination and the best automatic and quartz movements.<\/strong><\/p>\n

dedicated to the three greatest nuclear physicists of the 20th century:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Enrico Fermi (1901\u20131954) American physicist and the creator of the world’s first nuclear reactor,<\/p>\n

the Chicago Pile-1. He has been called the “architect of the nuclear age”<\/p>\n

and the “architect of the atomic bomb”.<\/p>\n

Fermi was awarded the 1938 Nobel Prize in Physics;<\/p>\n

made significant contributions to the development of statistical mechanics,<\/p>\n

quantum theory and nuclear and particle physics<\/p>\n

Chrono Line Andrei Sakharov<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Andrei Sakharov (1921\u20131989) Soviet nuclear physicist,dissident, Nobel laureate,<\/p>\n

and activist for disarmament, peace and human rights. Being a chief-designer of the Soviet thermonuclear weapons,<\/p>\n

Sakharov later became an advocate of civil liberties and civil reforms in the Soviet Union,<\/p>\n

for which he faced state persecution;<\/p>\n

these efforts earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975<\/p>\n

J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904 \u20131967) head of the Los Alamos laboratory. Was called as “father of the atomic bomb”<\/p>\n

for his role\u2028in the Manhattan Project that developed the first nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n

After the WWII, Oppenheimer became chairman of the influential<\/p>\n

General Advisory Committee of the newly created<\/p>\n

US Atomic Energy Commission. He used that position to lobby for international control of nuclear power<\/p>\n

to avert nuclear proliferation and a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union<\/p>\n
